What is Netminding?

Netminding is your gateway to sports psychology, designed to democratize mental performance resources that have traditionally been available only to elite athletes. We bridge this gap by offering affordable, accessible coaching sessions that can be booked with minimal hassle through our platform. Beyond one-on-one coaching, we provide free educational content through our blog, empowering athletes at all levels to enhance their mental game. Think of us as your personal mental performance coach—just more accessible, more affordable, and completely on your terms.

Who is behind Netminding?

While we refer to ourselves as "we" throughout the website, Netminding is actually a one-mind operation, headed by me, Lukas, a trained sport psychology practitioner. I've created Netminding to make sports psychology accessible to everyone, not just elite athletes. If you're curious to learn more about my background, approach, and philosophy, check out our blog, where I regularly share insights, techniques, and personal experiences in the world of sports psychology. The blog is continuously updated with new articles to provide you with valuable resources even outside of coaching sessions.

How does your approach differ from that of other sport psychologists?

While there are certainly similarities between my approach and those of other practitioners—and considerable variety within the field itself—there's a fundamental philosophical difference worth noting. Many sport psychology practitioners operate from a growth mindset that focuses on expanding mental resources through training and acquisition of new skills. My approach, however, centers on optimizing the resources you already possess. I believe the difference is essentially one of self-improvement versus self-knowledge. Rather than assuming you need more mental tools, I help you discover, understand, and better utilize the considerable mental assets you've already developed throughout your athletic journey. This distinction matters because self-knowledge often unlocks performance improvements much more rapidly than training new skills from scratch. In essence, I don't see athletes as incomplete projects needing more pieces, but as complete individuals who simply need better awareness and access to their existing mental strengths.

Do you specialize in any particular sports?

No, I don't specialize in any particular sport. While my personal background includes soccer and tennis (though never at a professional level), I've worked with athletes across a wide range of disciplines. The principles of performance psychology are remarkably consistent across different sports, even if the specific applications vary. Our collaboration works best when you bring your expertise in your particular sport, and I bring my knowledge of performance psychology. Together, we develop exercises and strategies tailored to your specific needs. The ultimate goal is always the same: helping you live a more balanced and successful life both on and off the court, field, or wherever you pursue your athletic endeavors.

What languages do you offer consulting in?

Currently, Netminding offers coaching sessions in English and German only. Both languages are available for all session types, whether you choose text chat, voice, or video calls. If you have any language-specific questions before booking, feel free to reach out via email.

Do I need any equipment or software to book a session?

No, there's no additional software needed to work with Netminding. The process is intentionally simple: just book your session through the calendar on our booking page, and you'll receive an email with a direct link to your session room. From there, you have multiple communication options to choose from based on your comfort level and preferences. If you'd like a video call, you'll need a webcam and microphone (built into most laptops and smartphones). Alternatively, you can opt for a voice-only call or even a purely text-based chat exchange. The flexibility is designed to accommodate your preferences and technological comfort level.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

You can cancel your session up to one full day before the scheduled start time for a complete refund. For example, if your session is booked for Wednesday at 3pm, you can cancel without penalty until Tuesday at 3pm. After this window, cancellations are generally not possible as time has been specifically reserved for you. However, we understand that emergencies happen—if you experience an unexpected situation, please email info@netminding.net and we'll do our best to either issue a manual refund or reschedule your session, depending on the circumstances. We appreciate your understanding of this policy, which helps us maintain a reliable scheduling system.

Are you a doctor or licensed therapist?

No, I am neither a medical doctor nor a licensed therapist. The services offered through Netminding focus specifically on sports performance psychology and mental coaching for athletes. I do not diagnose or treat mental illnesses, and I cannot prescribe medication of any kind. My work centers on performance enhancement, mental skills training, and helping athletes optimize their existing psychological resources. If you're seeking help for clinical issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, or other mental health conditions, I encourage you to consult with a licensed mental health professional or physician who specializes in these areas.

How can sports psychology benefit recreational athletes?

Mental skills aren't just for the pros—they can significantly enhance performance and enjoyment for athletes at any level. Recreational athletes often face unique challenges like balancing sports with work and family, managing competitive anxiety, or staying motivated through plateaus. Our coaching helps you develop practical mental tools like goal-setting, focus techniques, pre-performance routines, and stress management strategies that fit your specific needs and time constraints. The result? More enjoyment, better consistency, and improved performance in your athletic pursuits.

What happens during a Netminding coaching session?

Our sessions are focused, practical and tailored to your specific needs. Whether you choose a 15-minute introduction, a 45-minute session, or a 90-minute deep dive, your coach will help you identify mental performance challenges, explore solutions, and develop actionable strategies you can implement immediately. We offer flexible formats including text chat, voice, or video calls to accommodate your preferences. Unlike traditional sports psychology services that might require lengthy assessment processes or long-term commitments, our approach is direct and results-oriented, giving you valuable tools you can apply to your very next practice or competition.
